May God continue to richly bless the good works of your hands as you use your time, resources and lives to pour out into others.
By the grace of God we are once again departing for Liberia on June 4, 2013 for probably another six months.
Thanks for making a difference in a struggling nation, transforming the generation one step at a time and one child at a time as we build a nation and change lives positively.
We are humbled to be a little part of a bigger story!
Below are brief highlights of what God is doing in Liberia.
Your help and support is making a huge difference in Liberia.
The Heart of Grace Nursery, Elementary, Junior and Senior High School is doing very well. Your continual prayers and support have helped change the lives of struggling children in Liberia.
Construction of a Cafeteria and Medical Clinic in Johnsonville, Liberia.
We now have about two thousand students as of March 2013 attending school free of charge. The cafeteria and medical clinic projects are very close to completion. Previously, we could not provide food for these children to eat at school. There was also no medical clinic in the entire community. No less than five of our precious children come to school with either chronic Malaria or Fever every single day that we have to take to hospital at our own expense because the parents are just too poor to pay hospital bills for their children. Please pray for the final completion of this worthy project.
In November of 2012, we were able to purchased 5 acres of land in this strategic part of the country primarily to be used as a center for educational opportunity, capacity building, heath care provision, mental, spiritual and infrastructural development for the suffering people of this county. The first phase of this piece of project is the academic section. This new school will run from Nursery through grade 12. The school is called Alexandria A. Andrews Academy. And it is expected to be launched opened by the next academic year in Liberia which begins in September of 2013. Currently, we have finished with the junior and high school buildings and we are working towards completing the Nursery and Elementary school buildings. Please continue to pray for the successful completion of the third building as well as the administrative and auditorium buildings.
Heart of Grace School and community get clean drinking water.
Through the Hope2Liberia Non-Profit organization, we now have plenty of water flowing through our school and community here in City View, Lower Johnsonville. Water has always been a major problem for us in this community especially during the dry season or summer months. We have never had a public system for running water – which has meant everyone had to travel many miles for their water. In our case, this has meant walking up and down a very challenging, rocky hill to get to a well. Heavily pregnant mothers journeying up and down to fetch water each day has been very normal since people have lived here. This is now history as God sent 24 members of the Hope2Liberia team to help bring an abundance of fresh, safe, clean drinking water to the thirsty in this 17 thousand strong community of Lower Johnsonville, including all of the students and staff that use our school – the Heart of Grace.
Extending development programs in Lofa County, Liberia.
This school project started in 2012 with the donation of a five acres of
land space from the village people from Fessibu Town for the
construction of a multi-purpose leaning center.
Construction work on the first building which is 100 X 70 ft in
dimension was expected to be completed by December last year (2012).
Unfortunately, we could not complete the building within this time frame
due to financial constraints, the lack of water and bad land road
conditions in the country which made it difficult to transport building
materials across the nation. However, the project is nearing completion. The roof and zinc or tent has been placed on. The remaining work is to plaster the entire building and put the ceiling up. We intend to complete this project by the end of 2013.The completion of this project will go a long way in bringing hope and creating educational and employment opportunities for the local people in this under-resourced part of the world. We look forward to your continuous support and generous contribution as we strive to provide opportunities for the poor and oppress people of Liberia, one child at a time and one step at a time as we put hands together to build a nation.
